In the mailbox, I received
An invitation to a party
In a diamond studded cavern.

On the appointed day,
I showed up ready with a date
And we walked through the rusty gates.

And though excited for the night
We had come without a light
And the tunnel it was so dark.

Well then my date tripped and scraped her knee
So I wondered verbally:
"Are some good times worth these tear lines?"

She was stalwart and we moved on.
Our ears alert, but our vision gone!
We heard laughter hanging in the rafters.

Dim at first, we saw a light.
It caught the textured walls just right.
To us, it felt like dawn was coming.

We walked and walked
Till we arrived
In the diamond room with shining eyes.
Our clothes were torn and we were tired,
But never had we so admired

The faces looking back at us.
